and Economic sections
The Economic Section works to maintain and manage economic relations between the United States and Costa Rica through the following:
- Facilitating trade and investment agreements that promote
free trade.
- Analyzing and reporting on macroeconomic trends
and trade policies and their potential impact on U.S. interests.
- Supporting the adoption of economic policies by foreign countries.
- Informing U.S. businesses of the local
investment climate and economic trends.
- Promoting the devekopment and improvement of Costa Rica's infrastructure.
- Encouraging Costa Rica to benefit from U.S. trade capacity programs as a result of a completed CAFTA-DR agreement.
The Political Section closely follows politics in Costa Rica and serves as
an important liaison between U.S. and Costa Rican political leaders.
Political Officers analyze and report political developments in Costa Rica
and generate support for U.S. policy objectives with key Costa Rican
leaders. Additionally, officers assess the results of U.S. policies and
programs on relations with Costa Rica in order to assist the Ambassador to
develop policy proposals.
