About The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS)

FAS works to improve foreign market access for U.S. agricultural, forestry and fishery products, build new markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries. The Agricultural Affairs Office is responsible for trade policy and commodity analysis, and assists with market access and technical phytosanitary issues.
We work directly with U.S. companies to help them gain the knowledge and contacts needed to begin exporting to Costa Rica. FAS also sponsors activities to introduce companies handling U.S. products to key Costa Rican retailers, food service and food processing companies, coordinate U.S. participation in trade shows, and otherwise serves as a window to the Costa Rican market for U.S. companies.
