16 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER and renewing a passport with Form DS-82: 

Application Fee $75
Total cost for the passport  $75

Your passport will be valid for 10 years from the date of issuance.

16 YEARS OR AGE OR OLDER and applying for a first-time or emergency assport: 

Application Fee $55
Security Fee  $45
Total cost for the passport  $100

An emergency passport will be valid for 1 year, but a first-time passport will be valid for 10 years.

IF YOU ARE LESS THAN 16 YEARS OF AGE:

Application Fee $40
Security Fee $45
Total cost for the passport  $85

Your passport will be valid for 5 years from the date of issuance.

BY LAW THE PASSPORT PROCESSING, EXECUTION, AND SECURITY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

The passport processing, execution, and security fees may be paid in one of the following ways: Major credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover), Cash (US Dollars or Costa Rican Colones), or Traveler’s Checks (write Social Security Number on back).
