Press Release Friday, January 14, 2005 Returning US passports Starting January 20th 2005, any person who finds a US passport can return it to the Embassy of the United States in Costa Rica via DHL express mail service. This is a free service. DHL facilities throughout Costa Rica will pack, address and send the document to the Embassy. This means that the only thing that the person who finds the passport will have to do is take it to DHL. The company will take care of the rest of the process. The main objective of this service is to simplify the return of passports to the US Embassy, for people finding lost passports anywhere in Costa Rica.
